A special event commemorating the July 28 release of the first 3DCG Doraemon movie, "STAND BY ME Doraemon" (Production: Doraemon Production Committee / Distribution: Toho), began at the Toranomon Hills super high-rise complex in Minato Ward, Tokyo. The facility is branded "Doraemon Hills," featuring Doraemon in various forms including statues, banners, and laser projections on the building's walls (until the 30th).

On the opening day, Doraemon and other characters appeared at the "3 Days Doraemon Hills Countdown Lighting Ceremony" held by the production committee. When Nobita and Shizuka pressed the switch, a laser-projected Doraemon measuring 20 meters wide and 10 meters tall appeared on the wall, drawing applause from the audience.
The film opens nationwide on August 8 as a commemorative film for the 80th anniversary of the birth of its original creator, Fujiko F. Fujio. Directors Takashi Yamazaki and Ryuichi Yagi teamed up to create a new Doraemon film using 3DCG. They carefully selected episodes from the original works, reconstructing them into a single story that depicts the entire journey of Doraemon and Nobita, from their first meeting to their parting.
