Japan Airlines (JAL) launched a specially painted aircraft on domestic routes starting October 31st to support the Japanese delegation at the Sochi Olympics and Paralympics.
The rear fuselage of the specially painted Boeing 777-200 features the message "Ganbare! Nippon!" ("Go for it, Japan!") and the flame logo used in the "Nippon! Call Project," which launched on the 30th.
The aircraft will operate primarily on routes connecting Tokyo (Haneda) with Sapporo (New Chitose), Osaka (Itami), Fukuoka, and Okinawa (Naha) until mid-March next year (planned), with 4 to 7 flights scheduled daily.
As the Official Airline Partner of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) and the Japanese Paralympic Committee (JPC), JAL has implemented special liveries on its aircraft for every Games since the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
