Koji Amazake PR Event Miranda Kerr and Athlete Kobayashi Make an Appearance

On January 10th, Marukome held a PR event for its koji amazake, a key product following miso, at TKP Garden City Shinagawa in Minato Ward, Tokyo.

Taking the stage were the company's CM character, world-renowned top model Miranda Kerr, and Yu Kobayashi, a player for J.League club Kawasaki Frontale, for whom the company is an official sponsor. Kerr appeared in a gorgeous kimono fitting for the New Year, while Kobayashi unveiled the new uniform design the team will use starting in the 2019 season.

Both took on the traditional Japanese practice of "kakizome" (first writing of the year), writing a single character expressing their hopes for the year: Kerr wrote "愛" (love), and Kobayashi wrote "王" (king).
Despite it being her first attempt, Kerr balanced her strokes beautifully. "I believe everything stems from love, so I wrote with that feeling," she said with a smile. "I think I could write even better with practice." Kobayashi shared his aspirations: "I want to aim for the top scorer title personally, and I wrote with the strong determination for our team to become champions."

Regarding the characteristics of koji amazake, a traditional Japanese fermented beverage, Kerr, who gave birth to her second child last year, revealed she regularly enjoys it at home: "It's highly nutritious and healthy, so it's safe to incorporate into meals even during pregnancy or breastfeeding. My family loves it too, so I use it in teriyaki chicken sauce and smoothies. It's perfect for a healthy diet."
Aiming for a third consecutive team championship, Kobayashi commented, "Staying healthy is crucial for competing throughout the year, so I want to drink plenty of koji amazake to avoid injuries and fight strong."

Kobayashi also sampled three new "Koji Gelato" flavors (Yuzu Basil, Almond Chocolate, Banana Kiwi) scheduled for release this spring, produced by Japan's leading gelato maestro, Taizo Shibano. She remarked, "The idea of mixing basil with ice cream is refreshing, and it's incredibly light and easy to eat. The banana kiwi is fruity and a flavor I like. I'd want to give the almond chocolate to kids who love chocolate." She shared her thoughts on how well the koji amazake paired with each flavor. Kar also praised its healthiness, saying, "When I want something sweet but feel concerned, this gelato is a healthy choice."
