[Participants Wanted] Dentsu Inc. Design Talk: "What is the Creative Commune 'Whatever'?"

The Dentsu Inc. Design Talk Secretariat will host a talk event titled "What is the Creative Commune 'Whatever'?" at Dentsu Inc. Hall in Shiodome on August 20th, featuring Shinji Kawamura and Yusuke Tominaga of Whatever.

■From the Secretariat
Shinji Kawamura of "PARTY NY/ PARTY Taipei" and Yusuke Tominaga of "dot by dot" launched a new company called "Whatever " this year (grouping "PARTY NY/ PARTY Taipei" and "dot by dot" under "Whatever"), exploring a new "way of making." While both have consistently pursued and outputted "thinking and creating"—from advertising and other forms of expression to crafting their own content and products, and even designing spaces and new experiential processes—the establishment of "Whatever " seems to have sparked various new approaches. These include how to assemble creative teams and how to expand these efforts globally and locally. While introducing their past and current work—each having produced powerful creative content—we'll explore what kind of working methods, forms of expression, and ways of building teams they aim for in the future . We'll consider what makes a creative team that truly harnesses each individual's talent.

■Profile of Mr. Kawamura
Chief Creative Officer / Co-Founder
Chief Creative Officer at Whatever. Prior to joining Whatever, he was Co-Founder/Executive Creative Director at creative lab PARTY and concurrently served as CEO of PARTY NY, overseeing all global business. His diverse activities include numerous global brand campaigns, product development, TV program development, and music video direction. He has won numerous awards, including at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. He has been selected for lists such as Creativity magazine's "50 Creatives Who Are Shaping the World," Fast Company's "100 Most Creative People in Business," and AERA's "100 People Breaking Through in Japan."

■Profile of Mr. Tominaga
Producer / CEO
Joined the founding of AID-DCC in 2000, serving as COO, then established dot by dot in 2014. Concurrently served as Producer for PARTY New York starting in 2018. Grouped operations in January 2019, establishing Whatever and assuming the role of Representative Director. Engages in diverse production activities including advertising, installations, music videos, IoT, fashion, and TV, winning awards at Cannes Lions, SXSW, the Japan Media Arts Festival, and The Webby Awards. His life's work involves creating loose networks among creators, including investing in and serving as an outside director for COTODAMA, "YUMMY SAKE," and BASSDRUM, as well as operating coworking spaces.
