[Call for Participants] Dentsu Inc. Design Talk: "How Will Contemporary Photography Change the World?"

The Dentsu Inc. Design Talk Secretariat will host a talk event titled "How Will Contemporary Photography Change the World?" at Dentsu Inc. Hall in Shiodome on September 26th. The event will feature art producer Shigeo Goto, photographer and photo critic Chihiro Minato, and photo artist Kenta Kobayashi.

From the Organizing Committee

Contemporary photography is currently the most exciting field within creative industries, including art. Behind this lies the rapidly shifting digital transformation of society as a whole, closely linked to the evolution of image technologies like Instagram, drones, and VR. This Dentsu Inc. Design Talk welcomes guests including art producer Shigeo Goto, who recently published "Theory of Contemporary Photographic Art" (Film Art Publishing); photographer and photo critic Chihiro Minato; and Kenta Kobayashi, a photo artist who, despite being under 30, has collaborated with brands like Dunhill and Louis Vuitton and captured global attention. They will discuss the future form of photography and society. In the Instagram era, everyone communicates daily through photos, but how should we perceive the present state of photography as contemporary art ( )? This is a report from the front lines of photography practice, criticism, and production.

  Registration will close once capacity is reached.

Profile of Mr. Goto

Editor, Creative Director, Art Producer. Professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Has edited artist books and photo collections for artists including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Kishin Shinoyama, Nobuyoshi Araki, Mika Ninagawa, and Kohei Nawa. Also actively involved in curating exhibitions, discovering, nurturing, and supporting emerging artists. His recent publication is "Super Photography Theory: Kishin Shinoyama - The Secret of Photographic Power."

 

Profile of Kobayashi

Photographer, digital artist. Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1992. Currently based in Tokyo and Shonan. Held solo exhibitions in 2019: "Photographic Universe" (Reggio Emilia, Italy) and "Rapid Eye Movement" (IMA gallery, Tokyo). His work continues to expand, including graphics created for the Dunhill Spring/Summer 2020 collection.

 

Minato's Profile

Photographer, visual anthropologist. Professor at Tama Art University. After residing in South America, he worked as a photographer based in Paris. He has taught at Tama Art University's Faculty of Art and Design since 1995 and is currently a professor in the Department of Information Design. Received the Nobuo Ina Award in 2006 for "Citizens' Colors." Served as Commissioner for the Japanese Pavilion exhibition at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007. His recent book is "Infragram."
