The 46th Tokyo Motor Show Opens Expanding its scope to showcase the future mobility society
The 46th Tokyo Motor Show (hosted by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association), a biennial mobility festival, opened on October 24th across the Ariake and Aomi areas in Koto Ward, Tokyo. (Public viewing runs from October 25th to November 4th).
Under the theme "OPEN FUTURE," 187 companies and organizations from 8 countries are participating. Automakers are exhibiting numerous vehicles, including world premieres of cars and motorcycles.
The long-running "Tokyo Motor Show Symposium" will also be held. Serving as a platform for the automotive industry, over 10 symposiums are scheduled, focusing on socially relevant themes.

While recent Tokyo Motor Shows have been held at Tokyo Big Sight (Ariake), this year also utilizes the Aomi Exhibition Hall and the adjacent Mega Web. Furthermore, the approximately 1.5-kilometer Symbol Promenade Park connecting both areas has been transformed into the "OPEN ROAD." Here, around 70 vehicles, including supercars, custom cars, and motorcycles, are displayed, alongside test drive experience areas for personal mobility devices.

The show's theme incorporates three meanings of "OPEN." Unlike conventional motor shows, it expands beyond the enjoyment of cars and bikes to encompass "OPEN to the Future," allowing visitors to experience "future lifestyles and cities." The second is "OPEN to the Venue Area," promoting "OPEN to Visitors" through the establishment of free admission zones.

The Aomi Exhibition Hall features not only manufacturer booths but also "Out of KidZania," a collaboration with the children's career experience facility KidZania. It offers hands-on experiences related to automotive careers like mechanics and car design, likely appealing to families.

MegaWeb hosts the near-future space "FUTURE EXPO." Visitors can experience cutting-edge technologies from numerous companies themed around transportation, cities, regional tourism, sports, and energy. Additionally, in the popular e-sports arena, a tournament for the driving game "Gran Turismo SPORT" will be held.
