Japan Airlines held its "JAL Domestic Flights New Products and Services Presentation" at Hotel Nikko Tokyo in Minato Ward on January 30.
The airline will progressively introduce its new aircraft specification, "JAL SKY NEXT," on domestic routes starting this spring. A stage replicating the new cabin interior was set up at the event venue. JAL's image character, Satoshi Ohno of Arashi, was invited as a guest to promote the new products and services.
At the outset, President Yoshiharu Ueki stated, "In line with JAL's action slogan 'Welcome! New Sky,' we have equipped the aircraft with JAL SKY Wi-Fi, enabling internet access onboard. We are also refreshing the interior, including all seats made of genuine leather and the introduction of LED lighting."
Following the screening of the new TV commercial "JAL SKY NEXT Declaration" featuring Arashi, scheduled to air in early February, Mr. Ohno appeared on stage seated in the new seat, dressed in a suit. Commenting on the comfort, he said, "It feels luxurious. It's like being enveloped. The space is significantly larger and very comfortable." When asked for a message to JAL passengers nationwide, he stated, "I hope you enjoy your own personal time aboard JAL's ever-improving aircraft."
The new products and services will be introduced sequentially starting in May on approximately 77 aircraft, including Boeing 737, 767, and 777 models used on domestic routes, with completion expected in early 2016.
