Shiseidoreleased the web video " EMOJI-GAO CHALLENGE " for its "Shiseido Expression Project"on a dedicated websiteon June 1.
The company announced in April that it would launch this project as an initiative to support women.
At the launch event, Shigekazu Sugiyama, President of Shiseido Japan, declared the project's start: "We considered what we could do to deliver our cutting-edge wrinkle improvement technology to many women. Wrinkles aren't necessarily bad, but if they constrain free and beautiful expressions, we want to improve them to liberate women's naturally rich expressions and contribute to creating a beautiful world."

A survey on "facial expressions" in daily liferevealed that women in their 30s and olderuseemojismore frequentlyon SNS and emailthan teenagers. However, it also found that in daily life, many women are unable to express themselves fully due to concerns about "wrinkles."
The videofeatures women aged 1 0 to50. It captures their challenge to actually make the same facial expressions as the emojis displayed one after another on a monitor set up in the studio.
Unaware of the filming purpose, the women faced the monitors and selected emojis they frequently use. Following the on-screen instruction, "Please make the same face as the emoji you chose," they attempted to mimic the expressions of the emojis shown one after another.
The women shared reactions like, "It's hard to mimic the eye expressions," and "I hate how noticeable the wrinkles at the corners of my eyes are..."
At the end of the video, a black screen appears, allowing viewers to check for themselves if they can make rich facial expressions.
Are you able to express yourself in daily life with the same range of expressions as the emojis you use?
