Sports Festival Tokyo 2013 Held A Major Boost Toward 2020

The 68th National Sports Festival (September 28 - October 8) and the 13th National Sports Festival for Persons with Disabilities (October 12-14) were held throughout Tokyo, primarily in the Tama and island regions, under the unified name "Sports Festival Tokyo 2013."

The opening ceremony for the National Sports Festival took place on September 28 at Ajinomoto Stadium in Chofu City, Tokyo. Attended by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, it saw participation from a total of 50,000 people, including athletes and spectators.

Tokyo Governor Naoki Inose declared the opening.
