Sumire-san takes on slacklining. "Subaru Active Life Support Project" Kickoff Event

Fuji Heavy Industries held the kickoff event for its "Subaru Active Life Support Project" on May 14 at Subaru Star Square in Ebisu, Tokyo.
This project earnestly supports a richer life through safe and enjoyable cars, and this event was held as part of activities proposing "enjoyment" within that framework.
The event featured a talk session themed around the active lifestyle Subaru supports, with actress and singer Sumire, automotive journalist Manabu Kawaguchi, and Atsushi Kojima, Head of the Subaru Next Story Promotion Office.
During the talk session, Kawaguchi shared his recommended car with Sumire, who mentioned being hooked on activities like surfing during her time living in Hawaii. "For someone tall and stylish like Sumire, a rugged car like the Legacy Outback is recommended," he advised. Sumire listened intently, replying, "I want about four kids, so I want to be a cool mom who drives an Outback."

Later, Sumire challenged herself with slacklining, an activity similar to tightrope walking. Seeing the instructor's demonstration, Sumire remarked, "There's no way I can do this. I don't think I can," as slacklining actually requires far more balance and strength than it looks. However, she eventually succeeded in standing on one foot after the instructor let go of her supporting hand. Showcasing balance that even surprised the instructor, Sumire declared, "This is fun! Can I do it again?" thoroughly satisfied with her first slackline attempt.
She concluded, "I've tried various activities in Hawaii, but today was truly fun. I want to enjoy this kind of active lifestyle in Japan too!" Sumire seemed completely captivated by the project's appeal.
