The 32nd Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020) Coordination Commission Meeting (2nd IOC Coordination Commission Meeting) was held in Tokyo over two days, June 30 and July 1.

On the 30th, Coordination Commission Chairman John Coates and other membersinspected Makuhari Messe in Chiba Pre fecture, the venue for fencing and wrestling. They also toured prospective venues and facilities in the Tokyo Bay area from a boat, including the Sea Forest Waterway (rowing, canoeing) , Odaiba Seaside Park (triathlon), and Ariake Arena (volleyball).

On the 1st, presentations were given by the Japanese side, including the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, covering various themes related to preparations for the Games. This was followed by a question-and-answer session with the IOC Coordination Commission members.
At a press conference after the meeting, Chairman Coates stated he felt sufficient support was being provided by the national government and Tokyo Metropolitan Government. He specifically highlighted the appointment of Toshimitsu Endo as Minister in charge of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games as particularly important . He also expressed satisfaction with the increased use of existing venues reflecting the Olympic Agenda 2020 and the success of the marketing program, which has already secured partnership agreements with 15 companies. "Under the strong leadership of Chairman Yoshiro Mori, the Organizing Committee has achieved a major milestone," he said.
Chairman Mori expressed his gratitude to the IOC members, stating his determination: " Once next year's Rio Games conclude, the world's attention will focus on Tokyo. We will confidently take the baton from Rio and advance our preparations more steadily than ever before."
Regarding the new National Stadium, Chairman Coates stated, "We understand the construction of this stadium is a national and metropolitan government project, outside the scope of Agenda 2020." Chairman Mori responded, "We hope it is understood that this stadium is not solely for the Olympics; it will become a symbol of sport through long-term utilization."
Regarding the highly anticipated additional events proposed by the host city, Chairman Coates stated, "There are many evaluation criteria, such as cost, venues, and ticket sales, but we are thinking flexibly." He explicitly stated that the number of events and athletes for these additional events would be considered separately from existing Olympic events.
The third Coordination Commission meeting will be held in Tokyo in May 2016.
