One-Day "WAKE Fes!!" Event Held COMMUNE246 Transforms into an Outdoor Field

On June 30, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. launched two special edition models of its "Wake" kei car nationwide: the "X 'Montbell version SA'," developed jointly with outdoor brand Montbell, and the "X 'Nami Densetsu version SA'," developed jointly with the surfer-oriented wave information site Nami Densetsu (limited to 1,500 units combined).

To commemorate the launch of these special models, "WAKE Fes!!" was held at the community space "COMMUNE246" in Omotesando, Tokyo. The event featured a talk show by Hiromi, a celebrity known for his love of all outdoor activities—land, sea, and air—along with workshops led by outdoor professionals and a special live performance.

Reggae singer MOOMIN appeared as the opening act. Performing reggae-arranged cover songs and originals, he gently warmed up the initially somewhat stiff attendees. Next, hosted by Chris Peppler, Masayuki Nakajima, Chief Engineer of Daihatsu Motor's Product Planning Department, Kazushi Sato of Mont-bell, and surfing legend Michio Kato took the stage. They explained the practicality of the jointly developed special-edition vehicle in outdoor scenarios. Then, Hiromi took the stage, kicking off a talk show about outdoor life and cars. "On days when I have work in the evening, it feels like a holiday. Like getting into the ocean early in the morning or going fishing before heading to work. I even played golf today," said Hiromi.

Following this, workshops on surfing, camping, skiing/snowboarding, fishing, mountain climbing, and cycling were held at various venues within COMMUNE246. Many attendees participated, enjoying outdoor moments right in the heart of the city, Omotesando. Singer-songwriter bird's live performance filled the venue with her beautiful vocals, transforming Omotesando into a space of slow relaxation. Finally, DJ KAWASAKI's sound play brought the one-day "WAKE Fes!!" to a close.
