Tateo Mataki, Advisor to Dentsu Inc., awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays
On November 3, it was decided that Tameo Mataki, Advisor to Dentsu Inc. (former President and Chairman), would receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in the Autumn 2015 Decorations.
This recognition was granted for his longstanding contributions to the advertising industry, his leadership as Chairman and President of the Japan Advertising Association, and his service in key positions within international advertising organizations. His efforts included being the first inductee into the Asia Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) Hall of Fame, significantly contributing to the healthy development and enhanced status of the industry both domestically and internationally. Additionally, his company's work was acknowledged for supporting the realization and smoothing of administrative initiatives such as "municipal mergers" and "promoting e-government."
Following presidents of Dentsu Inc. (postwar): Hideo Yoshida (4th, Order of the Sacred Treasure, 2nd Class), Tsuneji Hibino (5th, Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, 2nd Class), Yoshiaki Nakahata (6th, Order of the Sacred Treasure, 2nd Class), Shuji Tamaru (7th, Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, 2nd Class), Gohhei Kogure (8th President, Order of the Sacred Treasure, First Class), Yutaka Narita (9th President, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun), and now Toshio Matagi (10th President) becomes the seventh recipient.
On November 5, at the presentation ceremony held at the Imperial Palace, Prime Minister Abe will confer the Order and Certificate of Merit, after which the recipient will be granted an audience with His Majesty the Emperor.
Mr. Matagi's comments on receiving the honor and his background are as follows.

I am deeply honored to receive the prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, and I express my heartfelt gratitude. I believe that inheriting the work diligently built by our predecessors and steadily accumulating efforts ahead of societal changes has contributed to the development of the advertising industry and our company's business.
Through the work of advertising, which demands "human capabilities," I have had the supreme joy of meeting many fascinating people.
I deeply appreciate this award, which I consider to be bestowed on behalf of all my seniors, colleagues, juniors in the advertising industry, and everyone who has supported me throughout my career.
