DENTSU SOKEN INC. Conducts "Survey on Video Viewing Habits Immediately Before Bedtime"
― One in three people habitually watch videos before bed, rising to nearly half among teens ―
Following last year's survey on video viewing habits during commutes and school runs, Dentsu Inc.'s DENTSU SOKEN INC. conducted its second study: the "Survey on Video Viewing Immediately Before Bedtime." This focused specifically on media consumption—particularly video content like TV shows and online videos—after getting into bed.
First, as a preliminary survey, responses were gathered from 10,000 men and women aged 15 to 49 nationwide regarding whether they had the habit of watching video content on TVs or internet devices after getting into bed before sleep. Subsequently, the main survey questioned 1,000 individuals with this viewing habit about the genres they watched and their mood during viewing.
Key findings regarding viewing methods and content genres are as follows.
<Key Findings>
1. One in three people habitually watches videos, with nearly half of those in their teens doing so
2. Video viewing is more active among younger age groups, with video-sharing sites being particularly popular among teens
3. Video genres well-known as TV programs are popular
4. While "relaxation" is a common desired mood, specific genres offer distinct characteristics
