Dialogue on Realizing a Society Where All 100 Million People Thrive

On February 28, the government held the "Dialogue for Realizing a Society Where Everyone Contributes" at Central Government Building No. 7 in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, aiming to engage in broad dialogue with the public.

This dialogue is scheduled to be held in four locations nationwide to realize a society where all 100 million people are active, with this being the second session following the one in Sendai on February 27.

In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stated, "Today's meeting is held to exchange views with a wide range of people toward formulating the 'All Japan Active Society Plan'. This year marks the 'First Year of the All Japan Active Society'. Japan has many women with high levels of education and great potential, as well as many elderly people who are energetic, motivated, and possess rich experience and wisdom. A society where all 100 million people thrive is one where everyone can play an active role—women and men, the elderly and the young, those who have experienced failure, and those with disabilities or intractable diseases." He then explained the policy measures.

Following this, twelve general participants—including young people and seniors pursuing their dreams in the workplace, individuals with disabilities, and childcare/welfare professionals—took the stage. Minister of State for All Citizens Active Society Katsunobu Kato moderated a discussion between these participants and Prime Minister Abe.

Prime Minister Abe responded individually to each participant's opinions and questions, including issues with employment systems and workplace challenges. He concluded by stating, "Today, I believe we heard valuable insights from each of your experiences. Policy must not be mere theory on paper. I intend to thoroughly utilize the experiential accounts shared by all of you."
