Mitsubishi Electric Selected as an Official Partner for Tokyo 2020

Mitsubishi Electric announced on February 29 that it has signed a Tokyo 2020 sponsorship agreement with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, becoming an Official Partner. The contract category is "Elevators, Escalators, and Moving Walks."

 

The company has long maintained teams in basketball, tennis, badminton, and other sports, aiming to contribute to local communities through sports activities. It also expands the circle of sports culture by organizing events where team athletes interact with children. Furthermore, the company supports the Japan Olympic Committee's Athlete Employment Support Program "Asunavi," including hiring athletes aiming for the Olympics and Paralympics. In 2015, it also signed an Official Partner Agreement with the Japan Disabled Sports Association and an Official Sponsor Agreement with the Japan Wheelchair Basketball Federation, focusing particularly on promoting and raising awareness of disabled sports.

President Masaki Sakayama commented, "It is a great honor for our company, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in fiscal year 2020, to support the Games. We want to contribute to building infrastructure that allows athletes and spectators to move safely, securely, and comfortably." Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori stated, "We are very pleased that this company, which is dedicated to promoting barrier-free society and supporting sports for people with disabilities, is participating as a partner."
