Bridgestone signed a sponsorship agreement with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games on March 10, becoming a Gold Partner for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The agreement covers the categories of tires, seismic isolation, and bicycles (excluding electric and motor-assisted types).
The company has been a Worldwide Olympic Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 2014 and will now also support the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
CEO Masaaki Tsutani stated, "We want to support the Paralympics while realizing our commitment to 'Contributing to Local Communities,' 'Practicing Social Responsibility,' and 'Respecting Diversity,' supporting the challenges and journeys of all those who continue striving toward their dreams while overcoming difficulties." IOC President Yoshiro Mori commented, "It is very reassuring to have support for the Paralympics as well as the Olympics, and we expect this to be a major step forward in promoting the Paralympic Movement."
