Docomo Simply wave it to your ear to make a call Announcing "Suguden" and other products
NTT DOCOMO held its "2016 Summer New Services and Products Presentation" on May 11 at Bellesalle Shiodome in Chuo Ward, Tokyo.
President Kaoru Kato stated that under the company's brand slogan, "One day, it will become commonplace," the theme this time was "Comfortable Living." He presented on "New Products and Technologies," "New Services," and "Docomo Group Initiatives."
The new products include five smartphone models, one tablet model, and one data communication product, totaling seven models.
For "Smartphone Comfort," they introduced features like "VoLTE (HD+)" for high-quality, natural-sounding calls and "Suguden" (Instant Call), which allows answering, dialing, hanging up, and silencing/rejecting calls without touch operation. For "Home Comfort Enhancement," they showcased the lifestyle support platform "d Living," which provides professional assistance for home troubles and enables home monitoring, along with the voice interface function of the lifestyle support information service "i Concierge." Regarding "Life Comfort Enhancement," they revealed plans for group collaboration, such as selling the health food "Hills Épicure," developed and produced by Shop Japan, through NTT Docomo's online shopping site "d Shopping."

The presentation featured President Kato, a mini-lecture on voice and communication by Professor Jun Shigeno of Aoyama Gakuin University, an explanation of healthy eating by President Harry Hill of Oak Lawn Marketing (which operates and manages Shop Japan), and owner-chef Koji Fujiharu of restaurant "Epicure." Visual and audio effects were used to promote accurate understanding.

Actress Mitsuki Takahata and actor Go Ayano, who appear in the company's commercials, took the stage and engaged in a talk with President Kato. Ayano expressed particular interest in the "Instant Call" feature, competing with Takahata—who made a call using standard touch operations—to see who could reach President Kato faster. Ayano succeeded in connecting with just two steps: shaking the Galaxy and holding it to his ear, securing a decisive victory. "It was surprising with this new sensation. I think the day this action becomes common is near," he commented. Takahata focused on the feature that delivers smartphone usage tips, stating, "I want to live comfortably with a device suited to me and new services."
The venue featured a touch-and-try corner and healthy food samples, bustling with many reporters.
