Dentsu Inc. Begins Custom Production of "Minna no Moji" Bitmap Font Version

On June 6, Dentsu Inc. announced the joint development with the Universal Communication Design Association (UCDA) of a new bitmap font version of "Minna no Moji" (Everyone's Font), a font scientifically verified for readability. Production-to-order began the same day. We are now in an era where the legibility and comprehensibility of information disseminated by companies and local governments are being scrutinized to ensure it effectively reaches a wide audience. Dentsu Inc.'s cross-functional internal team, the Dentsu Diversity Lab, launched the 'Readability Project.' Collaborating with UCDA, which is establishing 'standards for comprehensibility' based on scientific evidence, and Iwata, a pioneer in UD fonts, the team advanced the joint development of a font offering greater usability across various usage scenarios. In April 2012, they released the "Minna no Moji Gothic" font, followed by the "Minna no Moji Mincho" font in March 2016. Since their release, the "Minna no Moji" fonts have received high praise and are widely used in various applications, including municipal notices and application forms, corporate pamphlets and other informational documents, and CSR reports. Now, they have developed a new bitmap font version. Bitmap fonts are widely used in everyday contexts requiring high legibility, such as bank passbooks, ATM displays, supermarket receipts, food packaging labels, and electronic bulletin boards. The adoption of the bitmap font version is expected to contribute to the overall spread and expansion of the "Minna no Moji" font family.
