Citizen Watch opened the "Citizen xC 20th Anniversary Cafe 'The Beginning'" at Eco Farm Cafe 632 in Shibuya, Tokyo, on November 25 and 26 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its ladies' watch brand "xC (Cross Sea)".
On the 24th, the day before the opening, a commemorative event was held at the same location. Yuki Nagaomi from the Planning and Sales Department gave a presentation on the brand's history. xC was launched in 1996 as the company's first watch brand for women. Since then, it has evolved while establishing a new category of high-performance fashion watches. Since 2012, actress Keiko Kitagawa has served as its image character. Sales have been strong, setting new record highs for four consecutive years.
In October, three new models, including the new "Sakura Pink" color, were launched from the popular "Titania Line Happy Flight" series. These are Eco-Drive radio-controlled watches equipped with a world time function. To coincide with this, a TV commercial featuring Ms. Kitagawa began airing, and a special website ( http://citizen.jp/xc/special/ ) was launched, both themed around "When you start something new, that's your spring."
Ms. Kitagawa visited the venue and spoke about CROSSEE and "the moment of beginning." Wearing the "Sakura Pink" model, she expressed her immediate fondness, saying, "It's a delicate color we haven't seen before, and it suits both casual and formal wear. It complements Japanese women's skin tones." When the conversation turned to the campaign theme, she shared, "Starting something new or entering a new environment can be daunting, but wearing this makes me feel uplifted. I truly feel I've been walking alongside Cross Sea all along." She also recalled her father's words that encouraged her when she hesitated about entering show business, stating, "That was my 'beginning moment'."
When entries for the website's "Words that encouraged your 'beginning'" contest were shown, she expressed empathy for each one and offered encouragement: "The commercial also depicts the courage to take that first step. Ladies, let's work hard together towards a wonderful tomorrow."
At the cafe, visitors can try the new Touch & Try products and take commemorative photos against a flower wall matching the ad's key visual. They can also enjoy a special Sakura Pink-inspired cake and cafe latte.
