Mikimoto The Ginza 4-chome flagship store has grandly reopened.
Luxury jewelry brand Mikimoto held a grand opening ceremony for its flagship store in Ginza 4-chome, Chuo Ward, Tokyo, on June 1.
The store underwent reconstruction starting in 2015 to become a building befitting the flagship store of the global brand Mikimoto.
With 12 above-ground floors, 2 basement floors, and a total floor area of 4,600 square meters, it boasts one of the world's largest sales areas for a jewelry store. Floors 1 to 6 are sales floors, with a multipurpose hall on the 7th floor.
The façade design, incorporating approximately 40,000 glass pieces, is by internationally renowned architect Hiroshi Naito. The store interior, designed around the concept of "nature," will showcase a diverse range of jewelry, including the new "Praise to Nature" collection launched to commemorate the opening.

President Hitoshi Yoshida stated, "Our company opened Japan's first pearl specialty store in Ginza in 1899 and has strived to promote jewelry culture for over 100 years. Ginza continues to attract numerous customers from around the world, just as it always has. This flagship store aims to be a spacious, tranquil, and luxurious space."
Actress Ryoko Yonekura, wearing jewelry totaling approximately ¥200 million, including a pearl necklace, earrings, and a diamond ring, joined Sales Division Head Shinichi Nakanishi for the opening ceremony. They performed a ribbon-cutting at the entrance. As the scissors cut the ribbon, balloons symbolizing pearls—Mikimoto's origin—were released into the sky.

A talk show was held in the Mikimoto Hall on the 7th floor. Yonekura shared her fashion choice: "Today, the jewelry takes center stage. Since the pearls have a hint of color, I chose a nude-colored dress to let the pearls shine." She revealed her fondness for Mikimoto jewelry, adding, "While pieces this gorgeous are out of reach, I usually wear a simple pearl necklace."
"Pearls are jewelry that beautifully enhance a woman. Wearing them brightens your complexion, so when I'm feeling tired, I choose pearls without hesitation. Their versatility across various situations is another great quality," she commented on their appeal.
Regarding the store's distinctive glass decorations, she noted, "On sunny days, the light hitting the glass creates a water-like impression. The impression changes with the weather, so I look forward to visiting again." She also spoke about the Salon de Mikimoto on the 5th floor, which features high jewelry: "Seeing the pieces—from the gorgeous ones that make you feel 'thank you for this opportunity' just by looking, to the simple ones and those with new concepts—was truly educational."
