Dentsu Inc. and China's Ministry of Education Hold Signing Ceremony for "Dentsu-China Advertising Future Talent Innovation Collaborative Project"

Dentsu Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshihiro Yamamoto) held a signing ceremony on June 1 in Beijing with the Chinese Ministry of Education (equivalent to Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) for the "Dentsu-China Advertising Future Talent Innovation Collaborative Project" (2017-2020) (formerly known as the Dentsu-China Advertising Talent Development Fund Project).

The prototype for this project was the "Japan-China Advertising Education Exchange Project," which our company launched in 1996 in response to a request from the Chinese side for cooperation in advertising talent development. It targeted six Chinese universities and ran until 2004.

During this period, Dentsu Inc. provided diverse support to six leading Chinese universities, including conducting advertising lectures and seminars, and inviting faculty members as associate professor-level trainees to Dentsu Inc.'s headquarters. A total of 90 advertising faculty members were invited to Dentsu Inc.'s headquarters, and over 4,000 students participated in advertising lectures. By imparting the latest advertising communication theories and practical experience, this initiative significantly contributed to elevating the standard of advertising education in China.

Furthermore, starting in 2005, under the new framework of the 'Dentsu Inc. China Advertising Talent Development Fund Project,' we expanded the scope of participating universities nationwide. Targeting over 300 universities, the project evolved with the times, adding new programs such as commissioned research, innovation labs, visiting lecturer dispatch, and textbook publication, alongside continuing trainee invitations and seminar hosting.

Between 2005 and 2017, approximately 2,000 Dentsu Inc. employees served as instructors for the fund project. The number of faculty members who attended seminars in China reached approximately 2,000, while over 12,000 students participated in advertising courses. Furthermore, 160 faculty members underwent specialized training at Dentsu Inc. headquarters.

We have now renamed the project the "Dentsu Inc.-China Advertising Future Talent Innovation Collaborative Project." While we will continue to promote various support programs targeting Chinese universities as before, our new goal is to realize "mutual learning" and "collaborative innovation" between Japan and China, rather than one-way knowledge transfer from our company.

Furthermore, this long-standing advertising talent development project has been highly praised by the Chinese side. Dentsu received the "Special Contribution Award for Educational Support" from the Chinese Ministry of Education in August 2006, and was awarded the "Outstanding Partner Award" for three consecutive years in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
