Panasonic Launches Tokyo 2020 Official Program Participatory Activity "Let's Build TOKYO Together."

Panasonic announced the launch of the participatory activity project "Let's Build TOKYO Together" at the Panasonic Center Tokyo in Koto Ward, Tokyo, on July 24, marking three years before the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The company supports the Olympic Movement's vision of creating a better world through sport. Since the 1988 Calgary Winter Games, it has served as a Worldwide Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), contributing to Olympic activities for over a quarter-century as the TOP sponsor in the audio-visual equipment category.

Since the decision to host the 2020 Tokyo Games, the center has held special exhibitions and other events to foster the Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
Marking the three-year countdown to the Games, the center has now decided to continuously offer various activities themed around sports, culture, and education until 2020 as an official Tokyo 2020 program. This initiative aims to engage many children and young people, the next generation.
The first floor of the center has been renovated into an experiential floor, and the newly established event space will host the first activity of 2017.

At the start of the press conference, Hiroshi Nishigai, General Manager of the Brand Communication Division, touched on the company's history with the Olympics and stated, "We would be delighted if everyone embraced the concept of 'Let's build TOKYO together' and helped contribute to the excitement of the Games."

Koto Ward Mayor Takaaki Yamasaki, noting the ward's central role in the Games, revealed that approximately 20,000 elementary school students are scheduled to visit the center. He stated, "The center is invaluable for children's Olympic education, and we have high expectations for it."

Attending the venue were Tatsuya Fukuzawa, a member of the V.Premier League's Panasonic Panthers who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and Kei Fujiwara and Kenki Fukuoka, members of the Japan Rugby Top League's Panasonic Wild Knights, who competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics; Yuki Morishita, who competed in women's swimming at the Rio Paralympics; and sisters Rikoko and Maiko Miyasaka, who are drawing attention in surfing, a new event at the Tokyo Olympics. The three female athletes appear in the company's series of advertisements titled "Panasonic for Each Individual Story."

The six athletes spoke about their determination for the 2020 Games from their perspective as competitors. They also shared their excitement as sports fans, saying things like, "What heroes will emerge at the Games?", "Just thinking about it now gets me excited," and "I can't wait to watch live." They unanimously declared, "Let's get pumped for the Games together under the slogan 'Let's build TOKYO together.'"
