On the 28th, Nihonbashi Chuo-dori (from the Muromachi 3-chome intersection to the Nihonbashi Kitazume intersection) in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, was closed to traffic for the Olympic countdown event "Everyone's Tokyo 2020 1000 Days to Go!" (hosted by the Organizing Committee and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government).
During the opening ceremony, four floats bearing the numbers "1," "0," "0," and "0" paraded through the streets accompanied by spirited chants. Despite the rainy weather, over 200 local participants wearing Tokyo 2020 emblem happi coats carried the floats, led by Olympians and Kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa, receiving loud cheers from the roadside crowd.

City dressing by Mitsui Fudosan was also implemented around the venue.
Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike stated, "I want to celebrate this 1000-day mark with everyone. Many events will be held over the next month. I want to build excitement together with many people."
Minister in Charge Shunichi Suzuki stated, "The key to the Games' success is having the public not only attend as spectators but also participate as volunteers and in other ways. The government will work together with related organizations."
On stage, all speakers unveiled a "Day Counter" displaying the remaining days. The counter will be installed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to count down the days.
Ebizo and Olympians announced how they wish to participate in the Tokyo Games, in line with the ongoing "My Participation Declaration Campaign" ( https://dentsu-ho.com/articles/5567 ).
At the venue, athletes performed demonstrations of "Skateboarding," "BMX Freestyle," and "3x3 Basketball," delighting the audience.
Additionally, partner companies and related organizations set up booths, offering merchandise giveaways, project introductions, and sports climbing experiences.
