Established in 1982, the award is presented annually for achievements and activities contributing to the advancement of advertising. Mr. Kagami joined Dentsu Inc. in 1971 and assumed his current position after retiring as a Dentsu Inc. advisor in March 2012. He has long been active as a top creator, winning numerous domestic and international advertising awards including the ACC Awards, Cannes Lions, and the Asia-Pacific Advertising Festival (AdFest). He served as the first Asian Jury President at AdFest in 2002 and the first East Asian Jury President at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2009. At AdFest 2012, he was honored as a "Lotus Legend," significantly contributing to public interest projects. He also dedicated himself to association activities, serving as the domestic selection committee chair for the AdFest "Young Lotus Workshop" (where the All Japan Advertising Federation selects and dispatches the Japanese national team) and as a moderator for symposiums hosted by the Federation. The award ceremony will be held during the 86th Regular General Meeting on February 21, 2014, at the Tokyo Kaikan in Marunouchi.
