The Japan Wheelchair Basketball Federation (JWBF) will host the international tournament "Mitsubishi Electric WORLD CHALLENGE CUP 2018" (Organizer: JWBF, Japan Sports Association for the Disabled; Special Partner: Mitsubishi Electric; Official Partners: Nippon Life Insurance Company, Suntory Holdings; Official Supporter: Ajinomoto Co., Inc.) at Musashino no Mori Sports Plaza in Chofu City, Tokyo, from June 8 to 10.

This international training match, featuring four world-class teams from Australia, Canada, Germany, and Japan, aims to strengthen the Japanese national team and boost the Paralympic movement ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. The venue is the same facility that will be used for the 2020 Games.
Four men's teams and two women's teams (Australia and Japan) will participate in this tournament. The two women's matches will be held as the "Nippon Life WOMEN'S CHALLENGE MATCH."
The tournament is scheduled to be held for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019, aiming not only to strengthen the Japanese national team but also to develop international-level referees, competition officials, and volunteers.
While various promotional activities for various disability sports are underway in Japan ahead of 2020, low spectator attendance remains a challenge.
To encourage the mindset of "buying tickets to watch" para sports just like other sporting events, the tournament will implement partial paid seating.

Additionally, BS Nippon TV and CS Nippon TV GITAS plan to broadcast four Japan matches during the tournament.
The 2017 tournament (Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium), featuring teams from Australia, Great Britain, Turkey, and Japan, drew approximately 7,700 spectators over the event period, allowing them to experience world-class play up close.
Why not take this opportunity to watch para sports, which are still less familiar compared to able-bodied sports? On Friday the 8th, arena seats will also be available for free.
