"McDonald's Secret Menu" Revealed Plus: "Zico-Style" World Cup Predictions
McDonald's Japan will launch its limited-time "Secret Menu" campaign on June 13th, allowing customers to add toppings to classic hamburgers and enjoy their own unique flavors. The campaign runs until early July.
Ahead of this, a launch event was held on the 4th at Futakotamagawa Rise Galleria in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo.

This campaign, aimed at further boosting the popularity of the standard menu, has been held for three consecutive years since 2016. This year, customers can choose from four toppings: White Cheddar Cheese, Garlic Pepper Sausage, Sweet Chili Sauce, and Tomato (Garlic Pepper Sausage only for the Morning Menu).
Combining this with the "Night Mac" option (which doubles the patty for an extra ¥100) creates a total of 1,124 possible combinations. Recommended menu items include the "Secret Teriyaki Mac Burger" with white cheddar cheese, the "Secret Double Cheese Burger" with garlic pepper sausage, and the "Secret Shrimp Filet" topped with sweet chili sauce.
Furthermore, as the first-ever hidden menu item for Coca-Cola, they will sell the "Secret Coke" with added lemon ginger flavor, and the "Secret Coke Float" topped with soft-serve ice cream.
Marketing Division Director Mami Sakashita expressed enthusiasm for the campaign, stating, "Thanks to its popularity, we've reached our third year. We aim to pleasantly surprise expectations again this year." She also introduced a simultaneous campaign collaborating with the action soccer mobile game "Winning Eleven 2018," where participants can win secret menu coupons.

Guest star Zico, a former soccer player, spoke about the secret menu items available only in Japan: "All three burgers were delicious, but the 'Secret Teriyaki Mac Burger' is my favorite." He also reflected on his appearance in the TV commercial airing exclusively during the broadcast of the Japan vs. Senegal FIFA World Cup match (June 24, Nippon TV network): "Memorizing the Japanese lines was tough, but the shoot went really smoothly."

In the Kick Target Challenge, where he aimed at a panel displaying recommended menu items, he hit every target in order from the right without missing a single shot, showcasing the legendary precision free kicks that earned him the title "God of Soccer." Handing a spare ball to Donald, he smiled and said, "It's been a while since I kicked, so I practiced kicking all night last night."

After tasting the recommended burgers again, Zico ranked them from 1st to 3rd place. Regarding the upcoming World Cup, he predicted his "Zico Ranking": 1st place for his home country Brazil, 2nd for Germany, and 3rd for Argentina.
For the commemorative "Winning Eleven 2018" friendly match celebrating the collaboration campaign, he changed into a uniform and faced off against Department Head Sakashita with a specially formed team where all 11 players were named Zico. They took an early lead with a free kick from a foul and secured a comfortable victory.
Reflecting on the situation where he was in every position, he nostalgically remarked, "Before I became a regular player, I had to be able to play any open position just to get on the field. It reminded me of those days."

The company will begin airing its new TV commercial, "Immigration," on June 12. It depicts the comical interaction between a tourist who came to Japan out of envy for the country's exclusive "secret menu" and an immigration officer.
