Panasonic Wins Newspaper Advertising Grand Prize "Gratitude for 100 Years Walked Together with You"

The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Associationannounced the winners of the 38th Newspaper Advertising Awardson September 6. The Grand Prize for Newspaper Advertisingwas awarded toPanasonic's"100 Years of Gratitude: Walking Together with You."

Marking its 100th anniversary,Panasonic ran ads tailored to each of Japan's 47 prefecturesto express gratitude to customers and business partners nationwide.These ads incorporated quotes from founder Konosuke Matsushita and local anecdotes. They effectively conveyed Panasonic's history of growing alongside Japan, its corporate ethos of "contributing to communities through industry," and the founder's sentiments toward consumers.The campaign was highly praisedfor its 47 distinct, high-quality creative designs featuringarchival-qualityphotographsdocumenting the company's footprint across Japan, combinedwith the overwhelming scale of simultaneous publication in 60 newspapers nationwide.

Established in 1981,this advertising award honors campaigns that pioneer new possibilities in newspaper advertising, aimingto contribute to the development of both newspapers and advertising. It features two categories: Advertiserand Newspaper Publisher. Awards are given to advertisers and publishers who have executed outstanding advertising campaigns.

This yearsaw 380 entries:314 in the Advertiser Division and66 in theNewspaper Publisher Planning Division(both categories accepting only standalone projects). The Grand Prizewas awarded toone entry, andten entries receivedNewspaper AdvertisingAwards. Additionally,sixteen entries inthe Advertiser DivisionreceivedExcellence Awards, andfive entriesin the Newspaper Publisher Planning Divisionreceived Encouragement Awards.

The awardswill be presented at the 61st Newspaper Advertising Day commemorative ceremony held atthe Imperial Hotel Tokyoin Chiyoda Wardon October 19.
