Ottobock, a comprehensive medical and welfare equipment manufacturer headquartered in Germany, signed a sponsorship agreement with the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee on December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, becoming an Official Supporter of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
The contract category is "Therapeutic Medical Devices, Rehabilitation and Mobility Healthcare Products (including prostheses, orthoses, wheelchairs), and Exoskeleton Devices."
During the Tokyo Paralympics, the company will provide repair services not only for competition equipment but also for daily-use devices for all participating athletes.
For this Games, an international team of approximately 100 members, including prosthetists, orthotists, wheelchair technicians, and welding technicians, is scheduled to perform around 2,000 repairs using 18 tons of repair service machinery and equipment and 15,000 parts.
