Sagami Rubber Industries launched the "Life's a Flash" project on January 10th to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its "sagami original" series. The project song of the same name was released on a dedicated website ( https://sagami-original-20th.jp/) and YouTube. Starting January 14th, the dedicated site also began streaming content including the music video (MV) and behind-the-scenes footage of the song's production.
In 1998, the company launched Japan's first polyurethane condom, "Sagami Original," with the catchphrase "Not just rubber."
The song was written and composed by musician Enon Kawatani. The band "originals," formed specifically for this song, features Korresawa (vocals), ROLLY (guitar), Koji Ueno (bass), and Cha Kato (drums).
The song conveys the message that in today's world, where expressing one's true feelings has become difficult, this lack of honest communication might be suppressing even the human instinct to love and be loved. One's twenties pass in the blink of an eye. It carries the sentiment of wanting to convey to the new adults turning 20 in the final year of the Heisei era: "Shouldn't we express our feelings without fear?"
The MV highlights the band's performance, including Kato's refined drumstick work, and features a sequence where the faces of "people living authentically" appear one after another, replacing Korekawa, who requested not to show his face.
Twenty individuals appear in the "faces" segment, including writer Hirotada Ototake, former professional baseball player Kichiro Morimoto, journalist Jun Hori, actress/model Yumi, and event producer Kenji Kobashi.
