Global music streaming service Spotify began airing its TV commercial "#AllYouNeedIsMusic 'Airplane'" featuring rising artist Bikkebranka's new song "Ca Va?" in the Kanto region and Shizuoka Prefecture on May 17.
Spotify launched its service in 2008. It allows users to discover, manage, and share over 50 million songs for free. It currently has over 217 million users worldwide, including over 100 million Spotify Premium subscribers (a paid service offering ad-free listening, higher audio quality, and the ability to download music for offline enjoyment) across 79 countries and regions.
The commercial is set inside an airplane cabin. A woman attempts to recline her seat but accidentally reclines the seat of the man next to her instead. The momentum causes the man to spill the juice he was drinking all over his face. The woman panics. However, the man simply puts on his headphones as if nothing happened, relaxes into the music playing, and flashes a serene smile.
The tagline is "All you need is music." Vickie Blanka appears as one of the passengers.
It expresses that even unexpected situations can be overcome with music, and with Spotify, you can enjoy your favorite music anytime you want.
Simultaneously with the TV commercial airing, a web video was also released. The "Same 'Room'" edition shows a woman who pulls the cord to charge her smartphone in her room, only to be hit by an unexpected incident. Like the TV commercial, it's finished in a way that makes you chuckle.
Both the TV commercial and the web video can be viewed on the official YouTube channel.
