This stadium was developed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for the 2020 Olympics, replacing the ball game field at Oi Wharf Central Seaside Park.
It features a North Pitch and a South Pitch, with a combined capacity of 15,000 spectators for Olympic hockey.
The stadium's signature color is indigo blue. After the Games, it is expected to serve as a multipurpose sports field for various activities, including hockey and soccer.
On the first day of the test event, a presentation ceremony was held before the competition began. Governor Yuriko Koike stated, "One of the splendid stages for the Olympics has been completed. I hope this facility will be cherished for a long time and used by many people."
The event featured four men's teams: India (world rank 5th), New Zealand (8th), Malaysia (12th), and Japan (16th). The women's teams included Australia (2nd), India (10th), China (11th), and Japan (14th), competing in group stages, a third-place playoff, and the final.
The Japan men's national team (Samurai Japan) defeated Malaysia in the third-place match to finish third in the tournament. The Japan women's national team (Sakura Japan) lost to India in the final, narrowly missing out on the championship and finishing as runners-up.
