Morinaga & Co. held an event on January 20th at Tokyo Skytree Town's Solamachi Plaza in Sumida Ward to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its canned "Morinaga Amazake" product.

The company designated Daikan (the coldest period of the year, this year on January 20th) as "Amazake Day," recognizing it as the peak season for amazake consumption. On the day, celebrity Hidehiko Ishizuka (of the comedy duo Honjama-ka), the CM character for Morinaga Amazake, appeared wearing a fashionable outfit: short sleeves and overalls matching the amazake package design. He drank Morinaga Amazake and delivered his signature line, "Ah, that's warm~!" He handed out product samples to attendees, promoting the appeal of amazake for warming you from the core.
A special foot bath using Yugawara hot spring water was set up at the venue for attendees to experience. Soaking in the foot bath, dubbed the "Amazake Foot Bath," Ishizuka sipped amazake and called out to visitors, "It's so warming~. I hope you'll try the amazake and enjoy the foot bath too."
