BMW Collaborates with "Genius Bakabon" "Our car is a genius."

BMW began airing the "THE GENIUS BAKABON & BMW" TV commercial on November 9th as part of its communication campaign for the new BMW 1 Series (BMW THE 1). This commercial features a collaboration with Fujio Akatsuka's popular gag manga and anime series "Tensai Bakabon".

A family is driving in the new car. Mom is the driver, Dad is next to her, and Bakabon and his younger brother Hajime-chan are visible in the back seat.
Dad points and says, "This way!" but Bakabon tells him, "It's a dead end." Dad panics, but Mom reassures him, "It's okay. It can reverse automatically," and uses the "Reverse Assist" feature to effortlessly turn the car around and head back the way they came with a single touch. Dad delivers his signature line: "Our car is a genius!" "This is how it should be!"

The Bakabon family appears in a Hollywood-style live-action adaptation. Papa wears his signature ribbon-style headband and belly warmer, just like in the manga, yet somehow it fits perfectly without feeling out of place.
Alongside the commercial, the official website released three web movies. These aren't live-action; instead, the family is depicted in an American comic style, introducing the "Reverse Assist," "Parking Assist," and "Intelligent Personal Assistant" features. The movies also feature characters outside the family, like "Uncle Lelele" and "Officer Honkan," adding extra charm.
