Pocari Sweat Designated as the Official Beverage of the "Asian Games"

On January 18th, Otsuka Pharmaceutical signed partnership agreements with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) at the OCA General Assembly held in Manila, Philippines. These agreements cover the 2014 Incheon Asian Games (September 19th to October 4th, South Korea) and the 2019 Hanoi Asian Games (Vietnam), the largest multi-sport events in Asia. The company's Pocari Sweat was designated as the official beverage for both Games consecutively.

The signing ceremony was attended by OCA President Sheikh Ahmad, along with representatives from host countries South Korea and Vietnam, and other nations. President Ahmad expressed his welcome, stating, "We are delighted to have Otsuka Pharmaceutical as an Official Partner. Together, we look forward to hosting a wonderful event."

The Asian Games boast the world's largest number of sports and are a comprehensive sporting event gathering top athletes from 45 OCA member countries and regions. They have been held approximately every four years since 1951.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical has a track record of partnering with the past three editions (Bangkok 1998, Busan 2002, Doha 2006). For both the Incheon and Hanoi Games, the company will support athletes' and officials' performance and conditioning not only through product provision but also through awareness activities promoting hydration and electrolyte replenishment. Masayuki Umeno, Vice President of the company, stated, "It is a great honor to contribute to the health of people around the world through Pocari Sweat." Currently, Pocari Sweat is sold in 17 countries and regions, primarily in Asia.
