SKY PerfecTV! launches "WAKUWAKU JAPAN" in Indonesia
SKY Perfect JSAT announced at a press conference held at Spiral Hall in Minato Ward, Tokyo, that it will launch the satellite channel "WAKUWAKU JAPAN," featuring Japanese content and information, in Indonesia on February 22. The channel will broadcast 24 hours a day in the local language, featuring a wide range of content including dramas, cooking shows, travel programs, anime, movies, sports like soccer, and music from NHK and other TV networks.

President Shinji Takada stated, "Two and a half years ago, we launched this project aiming for consistent dissemination of Japanese content, conducting extensive local research and deliberation. Through an all-Japan public-private partnership and with the cooperation of many content holders, we aim to contribute to attracting tourists, promoting regional industries, and expanding the sports market."
Toru Fukuoka, Director-General of the Information and Communications Bureau at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, remarked, "Approximately 870,000 Indonesians are learning Japanese, demonstrating deep interest in Japan, yet only around 100,000 visit as tourists. This is a highly promising market, making it meaningful to convey Japan's appeal. We will collaborate across ministries to promote Cool Japan and Visit Japan."
Additionally, project partners Kazumi Daito, Chairman of the Japan Professional Football League, and Teruhisa Noro, President of Gamba Osaka, expressed their enthusiasm for enhancing the quality and popularity of soccer in both countries through J.League broadcasts and locally produced original programming.
Finally, appearing as a surprise guest, Ilfan Bahdim, the first Indonesian J.League player with Ventforet Kofu, said, "I hope many Indonesians will watch J.League matches on this channel."
