Jetstar Announces Summer Campaign

Budget airline Jetstar held a press conference on July 14 at Act Square in Shibuya, Tokyo, to commemorate the second anniversary of its domestic operations and announce new services and campaigns for the summer travel peak season. Since commencing flights in July 2012, the airline has operated 14 routes connecting 10 domestic cities, serving over 5 million passengers.

Jetstar Japan President Miyuki Suzuki summarized the past two years and announced the launch of its 15th route, connecting Kansai International Airport and Oita, starting in October. The company also introduced new services: "Anshin Plus/Anshin Max," which provides compensation for flight cancellations or delays; "Pre-Order Meal," allowing advance booking of in-flight meals co-developed with Showa Women's University; and "Jet-ta Omakase," a virtual support tool on the official website.

Jetstar opened a limited-time beach house, "Jetstar on the Beach," at Yuigahama Beach in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture (July 1 to August 31). The venue features a trick art corner where visitors can take photos looking like they're riding big waves with departing aircraft in the background, and a Twitter posting campaign using original sunglasses.

Fashion model Mirei Kiritani, the company's brand ambassador and a guest speaker, commented on the trick art, saying, "It looks like you can take cool, summery photos there." The "Cabin Crew Seaside House Original Uniform," supervised by Kiritani, was unveiled. During the opening period, cabin crew wearing this uniform are scheduled to appear at the seaside house for several days.
