Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association "Newspaper Advertising Data Archive" Undergoes Major Revamp

On August 6, the Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association significantly revamped its comprehensive newspaper advertising site, the "Newspaper Advertising Data Archive" ( www.pressnet.or.jp/adarc/ ). Launched in October 2001 to promote newspaper advertising, the site has undergone several revisions to enhance its functionality and data volume. It aggregates data from the association and individual newspapers, along with diverse advertising case studies. It also provides information on "Newspaper Advertising EDI," an electronic system for exchanging information such as copy production and submission guidelines, and newspaper ad order and acceptance confirmations.

This renewal adopts a design optimized for easy viewing and use on smartphones and tablets. It enables example searches directly from the top page, further enhancing convenience. Searches can be performed by category ("Advertising Theme," "Advertising Method," "Industry"), free word, or by setting conditions. Advanced search now includes new options like searching by "Newspaper Type" and "Edition," catering to diverse needs of advertising professionals. A new feature displays example access rankings and thumbnails of the latest advertising examples.

The search results screen features enlarged thumbnails with zoom functionality. When multiple examples exist, selecting a thumbnail displayed at the bottom switches the top image.

Masaki Sataka, Director of Management Operations at the Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association, commented on the renewal: "The Newspaper Advertising Data Archive is utilized not only by newspapers but also as a tool supporting advertisers and advertising agencies in media planning and marketing activities. It is one of the largest sites in Japan for accumulating newspaper advertising examples.
