Corporate Communications Awards Mori Building Wins Grand Prize

The 30th Corporate Communications Awards (sponsored by the Economic Public Relations Center), honoring companies and individuals practicing outstanding corporate communications, held its awards ceremony on September 2 at the Keidanren Kaikan in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.

In his address, the Center's Chairman Sadayuki Sakakibara (Chairman of Keidanren) stated, "The key to growing the Japanese economy is corporate innovation. To achieve this, activities that earn society's trust and empathy constitute 'corporate communications,' which become the driving force for innovation."

Mori Building was selected for the Corporate Public Relations Grand Prize, awarded to outstanding companies in public relations. The company was recognized for its public relations activities promoting social significance, such as urban regeneration and safety initiatives; its strategic public relations efforts for the opening of Toranomon Hills; and its effective information dissemination for the "Roppongi Hills 10th Anniversary."

President Shingo Tsuji stated, "All employees are delighted by this award. We are especially pleased that our efforts—not just the glamorous aspects like the Toranomon Hills opening, but also our commitment to creating 'a city where people can seek refuge during disasters'—have been recognized."

 

The "Corporate PR Executive Award," honoring executives practicing outstanding public relations, was awarded to Daikin Industries Chairman Yoshiyuki Inoue and Calbee Chairman and CEO Akira Matsumoto. The "Corporate PR Merit and Encouragement Award," recognizing individuals or organizations contributing to corporate PR activities, was presented to Seibu Holdings/Seibu Railway Public Relations Department Manager Ryuichiro Nishiyama and Nissan Motor Domestic Corporate and Product Communications Department Manager Sadayuki Hamaguchi.

The selection committee for the awards included Chairman Hideki Katahira of the Marunouchi Brand Forum, Professor Setsuko Egami of Musashi University, Yasuhisa Sakamoto, Head of the Economics Department at Yomiuri Shimbun Tokyo Headquarters; Kaori Sasaki, President of E-Woman; Mikio Kanno, Head of the Economics Department at Nikkei Inc.; Katsuhiko Suzuki, Editor-in-Chief of President magazine at President Inc.; Takashi Horie, Head of the Economics Department at Asahi Shimbun Tokyo Headquarters; Ken Matsuki, Head of the Economics Department at Mainichi Shimbun Tokyo Headquarters; and Emi Yokota, Editor-in-Chief of Weekly Economist at Mainichi Newspapers.
