Is the Guest an Alien!? Famous Host Returns in New "BOSS" TV Commercial

On September 2, Suntory Beverage & Food International launched "Premium Boss," a new product in its canned coffee BOSS line, and simultaneously began airing the new "TV Station" episode of its TV commercial series starring Hollywood actor Tommy Lee Jones. A launch event was held at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Minato Ward on August 28.

At the outset, Executive Officer Hirokazu Kitagawa stated, "The environment surrounding canned coffee is changing, driven by factors like the rise of convenience store coffee. We aim to enhance its value by launching this premium new product and new commercial." Regarding the casting of Tamori as the new commercial character, he added, "As a star of the television world, Tamori is the perfect fit for the keyword 'premium' this time."

When guest Tamori appeared, loud applause erupted from the press seats. During the subsequent talk session, laughter broke out at Tamori's every gesture, showcasing his enduring popularity. Regarding his appearance in the popular TV commercial series, Tamori shared his initial reaction to the offer: "It's such a famous series, so when I got the call, it felt strange. I was thrilled thinking I'd get to meet Tommy Lee Jones."

The commercials feature a story concept based on the commonality between canned coffee and TV: "If it's there, you can't help but watch/drink it," and "If it's not there, you feel a little lonely." A total of three episodes will be broadcast. Scenes recreating the popular segment "Telephone Shock" from the hit TV show "Waratte Iitomo!", which ended in March, appear throughout. Tamori expressed surprise at the level of recreation, saying, "Staff from 'Waratte Iitomo!' were involved in building the set, so we could film with the same natural feel as back then."

The highly anticipated new commercials will continue airing sequentially. The "TV Station" edition also features Shinobu Sakagami, Sō Takei, Osamu Suzuki, and Matsuko Deluxe.
