Volvo to Exhibit at Autumn National Traffic Safety Campaign Booth in Shiodome

Volvo Car Japan is sponsoring the "Autumn National Traffic Safety Campaign" and has set up a traffic safety awareness booth in front of Nippon TV's headquarters at Shiodome Sio-Site in Tokyo from September 21st until the 30th. The booth features displays of Volvo's latest models and traffic safety-themed games. On the first day, events included photo opportunities riding on police motorcycles and traffic safety quizzes.

The company, which has continuously developed automotive safety technology since its founding, has set "Vision 2020"—a goal to achieve zero fatalities and serious injuries in new Volvo cars by 2020. Realized with the cooperation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Atago Police Station, this booth highlights the importance of correctly using seat belts and child seats to raise awareness about traffic safety. It also showcases the latest safety technologies, including the Volvo V40, the world's first vehicle equipped with a pedestrian airbag. The booth also features interactive exhibits, including an "impact scale" that lets visitors experience the force of a car collision, a game to test one's reflex age, and a game simulating the slowed reactions of someone under the influence of alcohol.
On the 21st, the first day of the nationwide autumn traffic safety campaign, police motorcycles and Pipo-kun from Atago Police Station came to support the event, drawing many families. The venue buzzed with excitement as visitors took commemorative photos with the motorcycles and participated in traffic safety quizzes featuring banter between female officers and Pipo-kun.

■Limited-Time Showroom "VOLVO LOUNGE IN SHIODOME" Also Opens

Also opening on the same day in front of the adjacent Caretta Square is the limited-time showroom "VOLVO LOUNGE IN SHIODOME" (open until October 18th). It displays two latest Volvo models, and starting October 1st, the special model "V60 Polestar" – jointly developed with Polestar, Volvo's official racing partner, and limited to 750 units – will be publicly unveiled in Japan for the first time. During weekday lunchtimes, the "VOLVO LUNCH TIME CONCERT" featuring live classical music performances is held (from 12:15 PM for approximately 30 minutes). The melodies of flute and violin played by professional musicians add color to the lunchtime atmosphere of Shiodome's business district.
