On October 10, the Corporate Mécénat Council announced the winners of the "Mécénat Award 2013," which honors companies and corporate foundations contributing to the promotion of arts and culture.
Established in 1991, the awards consist of the "Mécénat Grand Prize Category," recognizing activities that contribute to social innovation through arts and culture promotion, and the "Commissioner of the Agency for Cultural Affairs Award Category," recognizing activities that enhance the public's "cultural power" and "creative power" or contribute to the global dissemination of Japanese culture. Following a call for applications for corporate patronage activities conducted between April 1, 2012, and March 31, 2013, 107 entries (99 companies/organizations) were received across both divisions. Winners were selected by an external expert selection committee.
