Japan Post has appointed celebrity Matsuko Deluxe as the image character for its "Post Office New Year's Card Printing" service. The new TV commercial, titled "The Selfish Person," began airing on November 17.

Matsuko arrives at the post office counter. She tells a female clerk she wants to send New Year's cards but finds it bothersome. When she asks if she can just hand it all over, she's surprised when the clerk shows her the Post Office's New Year's card printing catalog. She's surprised again when the clerk replies "No problem" to her request to have the printed cards delivered to her home. Her expressions and gestures as she realizes the Post Office will fulfill her half-joking, unreasonable demands are absolutely perfect.

The post office's New Year's card printing service lets you choose your favorite design from about 220 types in the catalog or about 520 types online to print on New Year's postcards. They deliver them to your home or a specified location. Orders are accepted at post offices nationwide and on the website "Comprehensive Printing Service."
