On October 15, Nifty and Dentsu Inc. held a press conference at Hotel Le Port Kojimachi in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, for "Umai Mon Producer," a consumer-participation service supporting the development of regional specialty products.
This service connects small and medium-sized businesses in regional areas wanting to create delicious specialty products (delicious goods) with internet users nationwide. Users support these businesses through comments and surveys, collaborating to create the products together. Since April, a pilot project has been conducted with businesses in Akita Prefecture, supported by Akita Bank. The service is now officially launching nationwide, with Akita Prefecture as the first region. It will gradually expand to all prefectures across Japan.
At the outset, Nifty President Kanji Mitake, Dentsu Inc. Executive Officer Nobuyuki Tohya, and Akita Bank President Takao Minatoya took the stage. President Mitake stated, "We want to connect the online and offline worlds to share the hidden delicious foods of rural areas with the world." "We can demonstrate concrete ways to revitalize local areas using something as familiar as food," (Executive Officer Tohya), and "This is a wonderful service that solves challenges in product development and marketing know-how using consumers' raw feedback," (President Minatoya).
Following this, participating businesses from Akita Prefecture and their project details were introduced. A tasting session was also held for "delicious local products" developed based on feedback from internet users.
