To commemorate the launch of Coca-Cola Life, its first new product in eight years since Coca-Cola Zero, The Coca-Cola Company held a PR event on March 12 at Omotesando Hills in Shibuya, Tokyo.
A giant infiorata (Italian for "flower carpet") made from herbs such as stevia was installed on the grand staircase at the event venue, and actress Yoshino Kimura completed the bottle design by adding the final seedling.
Appearing in a long dress in green, the key color of Coca-Cola Life, Ms. Kimura revealed that she has been a Coca-Cola fan since childhood. She tasted the product on stage and said she liked its easy-to-drink, low-calorie nature.
Regarding the product name "Life," she smiled gently as a mother living a fulfilling life, saying that raising her two children is what makes her feel the happiest.
Launched to mark the 100th anniversary of the Coca-Cola bottle, Coca-Cola Life is a health-conscious carbonated beverage that combines reduced calories with the familiar Coca-Cola taste by using sugar and a plant-based sweetener extracted from stevia leaves. It was named based on the concept of encouraging adults who are interested in health and have a positive outlook on aging to enjoy their "life." The use of green on the label is also new.
