The Tokyo Copywriters Club (TCC) held its 2013 "TCC Awards Ceremony" and the "TCC Hall of Fame" induction ceremony on October 25 at the Hotel New Otani in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.
At the ceremony, Takuma Takasaki (Dentsu Inc.) won the TCC Grand Prix for the TV commercial "Movies are lies that tell the truth" for Avex Entertainment's "d video." Takeharu Yoshioka (Hakuhodo) received the Best Newcomer Award. TCC Award winners (9 works, 12 individuals), and Newcomer Award winners (9 individuals). TCC Chairman Takashi Nakahata, Vice Chairman Hiroshi Ichikura, and Jury Chairman Hiroshi Sasaki presented the trophies.
Grand Prix winner Takasaki stated, "When creating ads, I consciously avoid making things that are easy to produce. This time, Robert De Niro's participation was a major hurdle, but the entire staff worked tirelessly to persuade him and made a miracle happen. I can't achieve anything alone, so I want to keep creating projects that bring together the strengths of many people and make everyone want to give their all. The most rewarding part of this job was receiving an email immediately after the ad aired from a film director I deeply respect. He wrote, 'It's frustrating. This is something only advertising can achieve, not film.' That moment made me realize this is exactly what I wanted to do. I want to pursue advertising that makes people envy film, not just create film-like ads; advertising that makes people envy novels, not just create novel-like ads. That's the kind of advertising I want to create."
Additionally, the Hall of Fame, which honors individuals with outstanding achievements in elevating the quality and social standing of advertising copy, selected Mr. Yoshinari Nishimura and the late Mr. Jun Maki (deceased 2009).
