Canon Marketing Japan held a press conference on August 26 at Canon Hall S in Minato Ward, Tokyo, to announce a new TV commercial featuring Satomi Ishihara as the new communication partner for its PIXUS inkjet printer series.
Following an overview of the PIXUS series products, the new commercial was screened on the center screen. Filling the screen, Ishihara took selfies against backdrops like a sunflower field and an aquarium orca show, and posed for a two-shot with a ninja. Saying "This is great!" about the photos she took, she instantly printed them out with a "Pit!" using "Smart Photo Print!" – simply by holding up her smartphone. The result is a fast-paced commercial.
Amidst loud applause, Ishihara, wearing the same outfit as in the commercial, took the stage, and the talk session began. Regarding her appointment as the new communication partner, a genuinely delighted Ishihara shared, "My father worked with Canon in the past, and when I told him about this commercial, he was very happy."
She shared an anecdote from the CM shoot: "The director was really particular about the 'Isn't it great?' line in the 'Isn't it great! Click! Yay!' dialogue, so I worked hard repeating various versions of 'Isn't it great?' (laughs)."
Regarding the filming location, she added, "The sunflower field really left an impression. I was overwhelmed by the sea of sunflowers—it looked almost artificial. I didn't get to feel summer much this year, so it was great to soak up that summer atmosphere. Plus, the sunflowers were so incredibly beautiful, I couldn't help but say 'That's great!' (laughs)."
She then shared photos she took herself during a private trip. Using her smartphone and a PIXUS printer, she demonstrated "Smart Photo Print!" right there at the venue with a quick "Pip!"
Finally, Ishihara concluded with a smile throughout, saying, "Just like in the commercial scene, I also coordinate by hanging the printed photos on my wall like interior decor. PIXUS is really easy and produces beautiful prints, so I hope everyone who saw the commercial will give it a try."
