What happened to Sailor Moon, Astro Boy, Kenshiro, and the others? SoftBank's new CM series begins! The one-night-only special CM airs October 20th!

SoftBank will begin airing its new TV commercial, the "MOON RIBAR" edition, starting October 20th. Around 8:53 PM on the same day (subject to change due to programming), a one-night-only 60-second special commercial will air across all commercial TV stations nationwide. Five distinct versions will be broadcast, one per station, followed by the standard version thereafter.

The new commercial series, under the catchphrase "Smartphones are fun with SoftBank," features live-action depictions of protagonists from popular childhood anime like "Sailor Moon," "Astro Boy," and "Fist of the North Star." It shows them, years later, enjoying casual daily life and smartphone communication.

The main stage is the members-only bar "MOON RIBAR" on the rooftop of an old apartment building. The first commercial, serving as the prologue, depicts the interactions between seven characters—including Kyoko Koizumi (formerly Sailor Moon, now the bar's owner), Masato Sakai (formerly Astro Boy), Ebizo Ichikawa (formerly Kenshiro), and the White Family's fathers. The diverse characters portrayed by the star-studded cast, along with their hairstyles, clothing, trademarks, and message stamps, each conveying their unique personalities, are also highlights. Starting with the sequel (air date TBD), full-fledged exchanges between the characters will begin. We now have even more commercials to look forward to.
