SECOM and Sogo Security Services Tokyo 2020 Official Partner

SECOM and Sohgo Security Services announced on October 20th that they have signed an official partnership agreement with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee. They held a joint press conference at the Palace Hotel Tokyo in Chiyoda Ward. The contract category is "Security Services & Planning."

Sogo Security Services President Yukiyasu Aoyama mentioned that the company was founded after its founder became deeply involved in the operations of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics (as Deputy Secretary General of the Organizing Committee). He also noted the company's long history of producing many Japanese national team athletes in judo, wrestling, and other sports. In his remarks, he stated, "We want to contribute to the success of the Games with 'security that embodies Japan'."

SECOM President Hiroshi Ito highlighted the company's security involvement in major events, starting with the 1964 Tokyo Olympics (including athlete village security) in its second year of operation, followed by the 1972 Sapporo Winter Games and the 1998 Nagano Winter Games.

He stated, "We want to create a safe and secure Games where athletes can perform at their best and spectators can enjoy cheering them on."

Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori stated, "Security is a critical factor for the Games' success. Having these two companies join forces is very reassuring."

Official Partners rank just below Gold Partners, the highest domestic tier in the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Program. Including these two companies, there are now seven Official Partners.
