Kinki University has successfully broken the mold of traditional university branding. This includes pioneering the world's first fully farmed tuna, "Kinki University Tuna," and hosting flashy entrance ceremonies produced by music producer Tsunku♂. As a result, the university has recorded the highest number of general entrance exam applicants in Japan for two consecutive years. Its 2015 newspaper and magazine ad campaign, "Who's this 'Tuna University' guy?", won numerous advertising awards. This marks the first time an educational institution has received the Osaka Advertising Association Award.

The Dotonbori Glico Sign, recipient of the Special Award, has long been a beloved Osaka landmark. In October 2014, it unveiled its sixth iteration, featuring cutting-edge technology. Countless tourists visit Dotonbori specifically to see this sign, significantly enhancing Osaka's tourism value.
